Performance Characteristics
- The DDW-5030AT is designed for rock directional crossings in formations up to 130 MPa compressive strength, with a recommended crossing distance of approximately 500 meters and a reamed hole diameter not exceeding Ø900 mm.
- Within its operating range, pilot hole drilling efficiency is 3–5 times that of conventional mud-motor systems. Verified project results show 15–20 meters of pilot penetration per hour in 50 MPa rock hardness.
- When pilot drilling in rock, this rig requires no large volumes of mud to drive a mud motor. Water and bentonite consumption are only about one-tenth of traditional rock drilling methods, while the reduced mud volume also lowers disposal costs and environmental impact.
- Choosing a purpose-built rock HDD rig for complex formations can significantly improve construction efficiency and lower overall project costs.
- The power unit is equipped with a Cummins 194 kW electronically controlled turbocharged diesel engine for clean, efficient operation.
- The dual-drive rotary head uses industry-leading dual-wall drill string technology. Both inner and outer rods deliver high rotational speed, high torque, and strong impact resistance — ensuring excellent drilling capability and efficiency in hard rock conditions.
- The rotation circuit uses a closed-loop hydraulic system, while thrust/pull-back uses a load-sensing system with proportional pressure regulation.
- The outer drill rod is driven by imported Poclain low-speed high-torque motors. During pilot hole drilling, the outer rod controls penetration and steering; once the pilot hole is complete, the outer rod independently handles reaming and pipe pull-back. The inner rod drives a specialized wing-type bit for pilot hole drilling.
- Both inner and outer rod rotational speeds are infinitely variable, adapting the rig to different geological conditions.
- The specialized carving (guided rock drilling) feature effectively solves pilot drilling challenges in complex formations.
