Jack-Up Drilling Platform

Description

Jack-Up Drilling Platform

Mobile Offshore
Jack-Up Drilling Platform

Product Overview

The jack-up drilling platform is one of the most widely used offshore drilling units. It can operate in water depths of up to approximately 400 feet (about 120 meters). The platform is towed to location with its legs retracted; once on site, the long steel legs are lowered to the seabed and the hull is elevated above the water surface, keeping it stable throughout drilling operations.

Jack-up rigs are mobile and easy to transport, making them ideal for nearshore and shallow-sea drilling campaigns. Two common configurations are cantilever jack-ups, which extend the drill floor over a platform, and slot-type jack-ups, where drilling takes place through an opening in the platform itself.
